The Barça roller hockey team have won their 13th Spanish Super Cup after coming back to beat Deportivo Liceo 2-3 in the final in Reus. A late goal by the Galicians saw a frantic end but goals by Marc Grau, Ignacio Alabart and Pau Bargalló proved enough to seal the win.
Intense first half
Strong start to the final between Liceo and Barça, with Tiago Rodriges and Carles Grau both called into early action. The to and fro nature of the game suited Liceo's counterattacking approach with captain Dava Torres powerfully sending his side into the lead.
This was an intense first half, and the keepers were being worked hard, particularly Liceo's stopper, who was a lot busier than Carles Grau. It took real effort, but Edu Castro's side redressed the scoreline through Marc Grau and Ignacio Alberta in a five minute spell. Half-time score 1-2.
Win confirmed after frantic finale
The intensity dropped in the second half, although Pau Bargalló shot powerfully to extend the lead and raise the roof again. A period of rearguard action followed, with attacks more paused, and the keepers were being tested less.
The final few minutes proved frantic, however, Liceo scoring to make it 2-3 with around a minute to go. The Galicians threw everything at it, using five outfield players, but FC Barcelona saw the game out to win their 13th Spanish Super Cup!
