Xavi Barroso returns home

The player who was at Barça as a youngster signs until 2026 after five seasons in Portugal

Xavi Barroso returns to the Palau Blaugrana as FC Barcelona and the Catalan player have reached an agreement for him to join Edu Castro's team. After five seasons playing in Portugal - two with Oliveirensa and three at Porto - Barroso is back at Barça for a third spell after signing a contract until 30 June 2026.

The player has passed his medical and will join the team for pre-season after taking part in the European Championships with the Spanish national side.

"It's really exciting to return home to the club where I grew up as a player and a person," said Barroso, thanking everyone who "has put their confidence in me again so I can keep improving as an athlete."

"I am also aware of the responsibility that comes with the challenge and I will wear the colours which oblige you to try and win everything," he said.

Return after five seasons

Barroso began his roller hockey career with Recam Làser Caldes in his home town of Caldes de Montbui. At the age of 13 he joined Barça, making his debut for the first team in the 2011/12 season. The following year he went on loan to Moritz Vendrell, winning the Cup and the CERS before returning to Barça. In 2018 he left for Portugal after winning 20 trophies with the blaugranes.

Now, Barroso is back after five seasons in Portugal where he won six more trophies, including last season's European title with Porto.
