Team photograph before taking on the Super Cup!
The Barça squad for the 2022/23 season have now had their team photograph taken with new faces included, brothers and Carles and Marc Grau. The photo was taken just before the team started their Spanish Super Cup campaign which will be played on 2/3 September in Olot. The semi-final will be on Friday 2 September against Noia Freixenet at 9pm CEST.
Edu Castro's team are putting the final touches to their preparations for the first possible trophy of the season. After four wins in four matches in preseason, spirits are high and there is confidence that they can reach Saturday's final in Olot which starts at 8.45pm CEST.
Board member Xavier Barbany was present at the Palau Blaugrana as he came to greet the players, in particular, new signings Carles and Marc Grau. For his part, sporting coordinator Gaby Cairo said he saw the team "very motivated".
Talking to Barça TV, Cairo thanked the fans for their support. "They responded to the call we put out last season and they were right behind us at important moments but we couldn't deliver on all fronts."
"We want the fans the get excited about the team again and that the team responds with more hard work and trophies."
Cairo also referred to the arrival of Carles and Marc Grau: "They are two great players who will do a great job and strengthen important aspects of the team. I think the signings are good ones and they will be able to contribute a lot during the season."
"It's a pleasure of Carles to return to the Club and he returns, importantly, a more mature player. Marc is a left sided player with great character and goalscoring ability."
After training on Monday, the squad will train on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for the first competition of the season.
