Barça 3-4 Reus Deportiu: Out in the semi finals

A combination of the opponent's accurate direct free hits, bad luck, two shots against the frame and an own goal prevented Barça from going through

It wasn't to be. Barça lost the fifth game of the semi finals against Reus (3-4), who will go through to the OK Liga final. In the final game of the 2021/22 season, Barça didn't take advantage of the dead ball in contrast to their opponents. Not even Pau Bargalló's magic was enough to take them through to the final.

Pace and balance purveyed the fifth Clásico of the semi finals. Defences started on top in the Palau, making life easy for Aitor Egurrola and Cándido Ballart.

Score tied with few chances

Chances to break the 0-0 were few and far between. The breakthrough came when Marc Julià scored a direct free hit, with Barça immediately looking to hit back but finding Reus strong at the back. Not strong enough to contain Pau Bargalló, however, as the number 8 tied the game with a moment of individual brilliance.

Barça take control

With Reus concentrating on defending, Barça had the impetus and Matias Pascual hit the framework as the pressure ramped up, Only a super Càndid Ballart with four stops in a row across the first and second periods kept the score down.

Pau Bargalló shines

The number 8 again waved his magic wand and created a superb assist for Ignacio Alabart to seal the come back just after half time. The joy was short-lived, however, as the unfortunate Matias Pascual scored an unexpected own goal to tie the game again.

Emotional rollercoaster

The genius of Pau Bargalló again broke the deadlock, this time as scorer, but again the celebrations didn't last long. This Clásico was a true rollercoaster, Marc Julià with a direct free hit to level the game. Dead ball effectiveness was proving the difference, first João missed one with five minutes to go, before Marc Julià scored another to seal the 3-4 final score.

Despite a frenetic finale, Càndid Ballart stood firm and Barça went out of the OK Liga at the semi final stage, bringing an end to the 2021/22 season.
