Seven Blaugranes among the nominees for UEFA’s Team of the Year

Ter Stegen, Piqué, Umtiti, Jordi Alba, Rakitic, Messi and Suárez are among the 50 selected to form the ideal XI of 2018

Seven players from FC Barcelona's first team are among the nominees for UEFA's Team of the Year. The European organisation has made a list of 50 players (five goalkeepers, 15 defenders, 15 midfielders and 15 forwards) from which to form the ideal XI of 2018, announced next January 11.

Among these nominees are Marc-André ter Stegen, Gerard Piqué, Samuel Umtiti, Jordi Alba, Ivan Rakitic, Leo Messi and Luis Suárez. Remember that in the current squad, the two players that have been in this XI before are Messi, who has been part of the Team of the Year on nine occasions, and Piqué, with five appearances. In addition, FC Barcelona are the team that have had the most players in UEFA’s ideal XI, with a total of 45 since it was set up in 2001.

For this 18th edition of the prize, as usual, fans can vote on the UEFA.com website.
