FC Barcelona came back from a 1-0, second half deficit at home to stun leaders Atlético Madrid with a pair of strikes in the final half hour, the game-winner coming in the 91st minute courtesy of Toni Duggan that allows the second-place Catalanas to cut Atlético’s lead to one point at the top of the standings.
Kenti Robles opened the scoring for Atlético in the 56th, but Aitana pulled Barça back level just nine minutes later, setting the stage for Duggan’s injury-time heroics.
Barça had come into the match four points behind leaders Atlético and the win sees them pick up an entire game in the Liga Iberdrola standings.
Atlético dominated early on but Barça recovered well and came on strong when it counted—late in the second half.
Robles nodded in with a header as Atlético drew first blood, over ten minutes into the second half of play. But less than ten minutes after that, a miscue by Atlético goalkeeper Gallardo allowed Aitana to pounce and knot the match up at a goal apiece.
Duggan then came in for Andonova as Barça began searching for the go-ahead goal, which arrived just when the match appeared headed for a draw that would have maintained the status quo in the table.
With the game in injury time, Alexia found Hamraoui on the wing, and from there the midfielder sent a centering pass into the area to Duggan, who handed Barça a dramatic, comeback triumph.
