Llorenç Gómez, who plays as a striker for the FC Barcelona beach soccer team, has been named the best player in the world. The honour was announced at the Beach Soccer Stars event in Dubai, a gala organised by Beach Soccer Worldwide in which national team captains and coaches vote on the players they rate most highly.
The Barça player was the most voted for out of the 50 nominees, and accepted the award from a former star at the club, Ramiro Amarelle.
Although FC Barcelona have not competed this year, Llorenç has been in good form for Spain as they finished runners-up in the Euro Beach Soccer League. He has also won individual awards as the best player in the European league, best player in the Bahamas Beach Soccer Cup and top goalscorer with Warnemünde (Germany).
Last Thursday, Llorenç Gómez attended the Palau Blaugrana to watch Barça Lassa debut in the Elite Round, chatting with the head of the section, Josep Ramon Vidal-Abarca.
