A few days before the long-awaited derby between Barça and Madrid, Barça penyes in all five continents have already begun to warm their engines. El Clásico is one of the most popular football events on the global calendar, and that is the reason why there are a large number of festive and sporting events held worldwide to support Barça. Several clubs are joining in by promoting huge events with a shared interest: to promote the Barça passion.
Peña Nicolau Casaus de Buenos Aires (Argentina)
A unique club, PB Nicolau Casaus de Buenos Aires, is holding what it is already a tradition. For a decade, this Argentine organisation has been installing a giant screen for El Clásico, which usually brings together more than 100 supporters, and this proven success is naturally being repeated on Sunday. Fans in the Argentine capital have always felt a close affinity to their team, and this club was formed 32 years ago on the occasion of the centenary of the Casal de Catalunya in Buenos Aires, which is now its clubhouse. It is named after Nicolau Casaus, the Barça director who was born in the province of Mendoza.
Peña Ànima Blaugrana de Shanghái (China)
A loyal follower of Barça's achievements, the Shanghai based supporters club is once again organising a massive meeting in El Nacional restaurant in this major Chinese city, where it is expected to welcome more than 200 Barça enthusiasts. The event will be sponsored by Damm and will once again demonstrate how well rooted Barça is in China. The Shanghai club currently has more than 180 members, of which 90% are Chinese. Due to the time difference, fans will be enjoying the game at eleven in the evening (local time) and it doesn't end until one in the morning, which means they'll need to adjust their habits in order to watch the match. But that's all part of the passion that Barça arouses in the Far East.
World Penyes Federation and Virtual Peña
The World Penyes Federation, which brings together all international penyes, and the Virtual Peña, are also organising a day of blaugrana passion for fans that are travelling to the city of Barcelona. The event ties in with Catalan cuisine and culture and consists of a visit to a famous cava factory in the region and a lunch at the Baskònia Restaurant before heading to the game.
