Valencia Basket 85-86 Barça Lassa: Solid win to go back top

Singleton and Blazic outstanding as the blaugrana regain top spot in the Liga Endesa in Heurtel's 200th appearance in the competition

Barça Lassa have gone 5-0 in Liga Endesa play with a super-solid display against the always difficult Valencia Basket at La Fonteta. Singleton (20 points), Blazic (17) and Pangos (14) led the way in game where 3-pointers and team unity were key factors.

Flying into a 2-11 lead, the Catalans threatened to have the game in the bag before it had barely begun, but a 13-0 streak from the home side soon changed that.

Tight defence on both sides, and command of the offensive rebound from the visitors were the tonic of the second period, which ended with Barça back into a comfortable lead on 35-43.

Valencia again fought back, three consecutive threes suddenly getting them back level at 46-46. Matt Thomas was inspired, but so was Singleton for the blaugrana and a gripping third quarter ended 60-63.

There was no clear pattern to the stop-start final period, but offensive rebounds again proved decisive for Barça Lassa. The 69-75 lead with five minutes to go may have seemed big enough, but they eventually ended up hanging on to win by a single point.
