Cornellà 2-0 FC Barcelona U19: Leaders lose at team in third

Gabri Garcia's side are still four points clear of second placed Espanyol despite sufferring a reverse on Saturday afternoon

The Barça U19 team were beaten on Saturday afternoon at the ground of third placed Cornellà, a result that contrasts considerably with last week’s 10-0 rout of Santo Domingo. But this was never going to be an easy fixture, and despite the loss of three points, the Blaugrana still lead their division with 33, four more than second placed Espanyol, as their attention now switches to the trip to Glasgow and a game with Celtic in the UEFA Youth League

Cornellà were on a high after two wins in a row, and managed to match the Blaugrana in a tightly fought first half, in which Aks and Guillem had the best chances for Gabri Garcia’s side.

Joel and Serra also came close in the second, but found that Cornellà keeper Josep was in blazing form. And just when the game looked to be heading for a 0-0 draw, Víctor snatched an opener for the home side and five minutes later was celebrating his second.

Barça battled hard to get something out of the game, but to no avail.
