Andrés Iniesta: “Winning a derby is always special”
The club captain gives his thoughts about the win over Espanyol after his sensational performance
FC Barcelona ended their league commitments for 2016 in fine fashion, defeating rivals Espanyol 4-1 at Camp Nou.
One of the top performers in the win was Andrés Iniesta, who assisted the first goal and played a big part in the second half onslaught.
The club captain admitted that “winning a derby is always special” before adding that “Leo is fundament and we are happy with getting back to winning ways and having those positive feelings”.
“We have won and, more importantly, we have played well. We have got the good vibes back and that is always important.”
“Derbies are always nice to play and the joy comes with the win and the good performance of the team.”
“I think that it is tough after the (contract) renovation to put in a good performance, because many people think that you will relax, but what I want is to continue enjoying football with my teammates.”
“Many people already know that Leo Messi is the best in the world. He does not have to win an award because the people already know he is the best. We must enjoy having him.”
“Any match is special with Barça. In any game, there are requirements and to show why you are at the club, a test for us.”
“The team has improved across the field. We must continue trying to evolve.”
“Messi is a player who always leaves us speechless.”
