Barça B – At. Levante: Scant reward (1-1)

Gerard López's have chances to win but have to be happy with a point

Barça B shared the points with Atlético Levante after they played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Miniestadi. Gerard López’s team created plenty of chances during the game but had to come from behind, Marc Cardona’s goal given them the equaliser in the second half after Levante had taken the lead after the break. The B side remain leaders for the time being with Alcoyano still to play this weekend and just two points behind the blaugranes in the table.

Barça began the game enjoying plenty of possession but creating few clear cut chances. Levante were content to sit back and look for chances on the counter attack. The best chance of the half for the home side came in the 36th minute when Sarsanedas shot to close to goalkeeper Sotres.

Goalless at half time, the second half began with a chance for Nili but the full back’s shot was too tame in the end to trouble Levante keeper Sotres. Barça started to dominate and Perea once again called Sotres into action. Then against the run of play, Levante took the lead in the 64th minute. Arturo’s penalty made it 1-0 to the visitors with Barça keeper Suárez agonizingly close to making the save.

U19 squad member Jordi Mboula made his debut as a second half substitute and he showed his quality by setting up Marc Cardona for the equaliser with 13 minutes of the game remaining. Barça B went for the winner but it was not to be as they had to settle for a draw in front of 2,187 fans, the third biggest crowd at home of the season.
