Barça Legends travel to Lebanon on 28 April to face a team of Real Madrid Legends at Camille Chamoun Sports City in Beirut, and a very special individual will be making his debut for the blaugrana side.
Ronaldinho, now a club ambassador, will once again don the famous shirt for the match in Lebanon, joining a squad chosen by Jose Mari Bakero. The full list of players selected for the match are as follows: Angoy, Guzmán, Zambrotta, Juan Carlos, Popescu, Belletti, Abidal, Nadal, Edmílson, Goikoetxea, Mendieta, Davids, Giuly, Julio Salinas, Luis García, Simao Sabrosa and Ronaldinho. And for Madrid, José Antonio Camacho has chosen César, Pavón, Julio Llorente, Amavisca, Savio, De la Red, Morientes, Roberto Carlos, Fernando Sanz and Karembeu, among others.
Jordi Cardoner, first vice-president in charge of the Social Area, will head the blaugrana delegation which is scheduled to visit a refugee camp in the region of Bekaa, while a group of players will visit public schools in Beirut where they will check up on the FutbolNet programme, which the Club’s Foundation is sharing across the world.
In March, it was announced that the legends would be facing a team of famous Manchester United players on 30 June at the Camp Nou, and there will be a return match at Old Trafford on 2 September.
Barça Legends is the result of an FC Barcelona programme to honour the many footballers that have worn the club jersey over the years. The project hopes to help globalise the Barça name and values through former players, and also to continue to exploit their careers after their retirement from professional duty. The initiative foresees the holding of different games and the organisation of parallel events in different places around the world.
