Bartomeu interviewed by Miami media

FC Barcelona's president spoke about the expansion of the club in the United States, as well as analysing Barça news

The arrival of FC Barcelona in Miami has generated enormous expectations. Not only for the match that will be played this Saturday against Real Madrid, but also for the importance of the club in the United States, a country that since last year has had a club office in New York City.

Miami is the third and final destination of this tour in North America, and the president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, conducted a round of interviews for different media. At Univisión, the most watched Spanish television network in the United States, he was interviewed by José Luis López Salido and Diego Balado.

Bartomeu also attended ESPN, the leading sports television network. There he was live with the mayor of Miami-Dade County, Carlos A. Giménez, who previously delivered the keys of the city with the CEO of Hard Rock Stadium, Tom Garfinkel, and journalists Jorge Ramos and Hernán Pereyra.

That interview was conducted on the Hard Rock Stadium pitch, the venue for this Saturday’s Clásico, and at the same time as when the players of Barça's first team were being put through their paces on the last training session of this tour.

Shortly afterward, Bartomeu was able to say hello to Hugo Sánchez and Mario Alberto Kempes, with whom he had a cordial chat for a few minutes.

Finally, the president finished the round of interviews by speaking with Ana Cobos and Jamie Easton of beIN, owner of the rights to La Liga in the United States.

Neymar, for the present and future

In all of the media appearances, Bartomeu talked about the plans of FC Barcelona to expand in the United States, the enthusiasm for the creation of a female football team in the American league, as well as the club’s future plans.

Inevitably, questions were asked about Neymar Jr, who the president described as a player of the present and future, and added that the club has no intention of selling him.

To that end, any clubs who do want him will have to refer to his buyout clause.
