FC Barcelona and Osteoarthritis Foundation International to collaborate against this joint disease in sport

The Barça Innovation Hub and the OAFI present, at the I International Congress for OA Patients, an agreement to promote prevention and treatment of professional and amateur athletes

FC Barcelona and the Osteoarthritis Foundation International (OAFI) have signed today a partnership agreement to promote the prevention and treatment of the disease among sportspeople. Through this agreement, the OAFI and FC Barcelona are committed to developing joint research and innovation projects in the field of osteoarthritis and joint health in the form of prevention and treatment programmes in both amateur and professional sport.

The agreement was presented at the I International Congress for OA Patients, organised by the OAFI, and which is being held yesterday and today at the Cosmocaixa building in Barcelona in collaboration with Obra Social "La Caixa", and which will be representing the more than 150 osteoarthritis patients all around the world.

After the presentation of the agreement, the Barça Innovation Hub was explained by the manager of the project at the club, Marta Aubia, and by the head of the knowledge area of the Medical and Nutrition Services, Dr. Gil Rodas. This was followed by a round table debate on Arthritis and Sport, which involved specialists in sports medicine of the calibre of Dr. José María Villalón, head of medical services at Club Atlético de Madrid and Dr. Gil Rodas, as well as Olympic athletes Jesús García Bragado and Manel González.
