AX Milan – FC Barcelona Lassa: Unlucky in an evenly fought match (78-74)

The Blaugrana wasted a difference of fifteen points in the second period and even though they fought until the last possible moment they ended up losing the match in Italy

Barça Lassa had dominated the early stages of the game against AX Milan and were already ahead by 15 points during the first few minutes of the second period. However, the Italians never gave up hope and battled until the last minute, eventually earning a hard-fought win 78-74.

The visitors were on the offensive from the first whistle, taking control of the game with long periods of possession. Four unanswered baskets saw Sito Alonso’s side take an early five-point advantage (7-12), and they still held the same margin at the end of the first period thanks to Moerman’s three-pointer on the horn (17-22).

Defensive intensity increased from both sides in the second period, and the Blaugranes continued to apply the pressure (19-32). By half time, the hosts had restored parity by scoring 12 unanswered points (39-39).

A battle until the last minute

The Italians edged ahead just after the break but a see-saw battle continued with the lead changing hands on multiple occasions. Despite Heurtel’s heroics for Barça Lassa, Theodore was providing similar excellence at the basket for AX Milan, and, try as they might, the visitors couldn’t overhaul the Italians in a final, frenetic period.

The next challenge for Barça Lassa is an Endesa League game this Sunday at the Palau Blaugrana against UCAM Murcia (12.30pm CET).
