Barça U-19s beat PSG, qualify for UEFA Youth League quarterfinals

Carles Pérez scored the game's only goal as Barça moves on in continental play

FC Barcelona’s Under-19 team won on the road at Paris Saint Germain, 1–0, on Tuesday afternoon to qualify for the quarterfinals of the UEFA Youth League.

Carles Pérez broke a scoreless deadlock in the 65th minute and, after Monchu was sent off in the 86th to send Barça down to ten players, the Catalans held on for the victory.

Barça will face the winner of the Atlético Madrid–Basel tie. The quarterfinal will be played on either March 13 or 14.

The first half of Tuesday’s match was an even-handed battle, with both teams getting clear looks, but neither able to take advantage. PSG’s Mbe Soh had the home team’s best shot on 11 minutes, and Barça Ballou barely missed putting Barça up just shy of the half hour mark.

Then, just 20 minutes into the second half, Riqui Puig fed the ball inside to Pérez, whose initial shot was saved before finding the net for the eventual game-winner.
