Barça secure a 1-1 draw on their visit to Huelva following a tough game in which the home side defended well and took the lead through Makore, although the blaugranas were able to level the scores through a spectacular Duggan goal. This result means there is no change at the top of the table as Atlético drew 2-2 on Saturday.
The game started with Sporting pressing high up the pitch and the Catalans were unable to keep possession. Fran Sánchez’s side grew into the game and had the first few chances of the match. Andressa Alves caused problems with a powerful shot and Toni Duggan went close as well before seeing a header ruled out for offside.
There was not too much to choose between the two sides and there was very little space to play in during a tight opening half. The game lacked rhythm due to the number of fouls and Sporting looked strong in defence.
In the opening minutes of the second half, the dangerous Makore made the most of a great pass into space to finish past Paños (1-0, min. 48). The blaugranas didn’t give up and they went looking for the equaliser.
Toni Duggan almost scored two minutes after, but blasted over when well placed. In the 60th minute, she was not so forgiving and she turned on the edge of the box and placed the ball into the top corner of Serrat’s goal to level the scores (1-1). Barça dominated from then on but were unable to score the winner leaving them one point behind the league leaders Atlético.
