Four Penyes in Catalonia and Spain
In Catalonia, the Penya Blaugrana de Folgueroles is driven by a group of eight young locals who have shared their passion for Barça for years. The project is the result of multiple experiences following the team both across Spain and in Europe, as well as the relationships established with other supporters’ club members. With a clear local focus, the club aims to become a meeting point in the town through the organization of activities, match viewings, and group trips. In addition, it promotes the creation of an amateur futsal team to help energize the sporting and social life of Folgueroles.
Meanwhile, the Penya Barcelonista Almassora originated from group trips to Spotify Camp Nou organized by one of its promoters, bringing together a large local fan base. From those shared experiences came the desire to revive a supporters’ club in the town after years without activity. Today, the penya stands out for organizing trips, gatherings, and various initiatives aimed at fostering togetherness among its members.
In Verín (Galicia), the Peña Blaugrana de Verín emerged from the initiative of a group of fans who regularly met to watch FC Barcelona matches and decided to take the step toward formal establishment. The club was born in an environment with a notable presence of diverse fan bases, but also with a significant Barça community that had not previously been organized. Its activities currently focus on match viewings and social dinners, with the intention of continuing to grow and organizing future trips to follow the team.
Finally, in El Burgo de Osma (Soria), the Peña Barcelonista Burgense was founded in January 2026 with the aim of integrating into the town’s social and cultural life and promoting the values of FC Barcelona. With a strong inclusive vocation, the penya organizes activities that go beyond football, such as gastronomic events and card tournaments open to the entire community. It also collaborates with grassroots football and maintains relationships with other supporters’ clubs, strengthening its role within the local community.
The Penyes movement continues to expand worldwide
At the international level, the penyes movement continues to grow with initiatives that highlight the global reach of FC Barcelona.
In Romania, the Barça Fan Club Iași was created by culers who, after years of watching matches together, decided to establish a space to share this passion with other fans in the city. The club aims to bring together an already existing fan base to enjoy matches collectively. One of its motivations is also the possibility of traveling to support the team, as members have recently done in collaboration with other supporters’ clubs.
Meanwhile, the Penya Barcelonista de Castillejos, in Morocco, stands out for its strong commitment to the community and its ability to foster cohesion in a multicultural environment. Founded in 2023, it has an established membership base of 84 members and carries out continuous activity through sporting, social, and cultural initiatives. Located in a border city characterized by diversity, the penya serves as a meeting point and a representation of Barça fandom, maintaining relationships with other supporters’ clubs in the country and aiming to expand its collaboration network.
In Mosul (Iraq), the Penya Blaugrana Mosul was founded in 2022 with the goal of bringing together local fans and spreading news about the Club through match screenings and social activities. Born out of a love for FC Barcelona and the desire to embody the “More than a club” philosophy, the club has experienced remarkable growth, with more than 800 members. Despite its strong digital community, in-person gatherings have also increased, with events attracting hundreds of fans. Among its future goals are the organization of sports tournaments and strengthening collaboration with other supporters’ clubs in the country.
Finally, the Penya Blaugrana Phoenix has consolidated its growth following a reactivation process aimed at becoming an official entity. Although its activity began in 2015, the club has recently strengthened its structure to build a solid and stable community in the region. With 113 members and growing participation, it stands out for regularly organizing match-viewing gatherings as well as fostering community engagement through social initiatives and activities. Looking ahead, the penya aims to expand local collaborations, such as with Barça Academy Phoenix, and continue strengthening ties with other supporters’ clubs in the United States.
Overall, these new supporters’ clubs demonstrate the strength and vitality of the penyes movement, both locally and internationally, and reinforce the role of these clubs as a tool for cohesion and for spreading the values of FC Barcelona around the world.
