For the first time in the history of Barça Academy Residency Arizona, the blaugrana academy has qualified all four of its teams in their respective age groups (U15, U16, U17 and U19) for the MLS Next Cup play-offs in three consecutive seasons. It has also made history as the only club not affiliated with an MLS franchise to achieve the feat. Only two other clubs (Pennsylvania side FC Delco and GFIA (Global Football Innovation Academy)) managed to qualify teams in all four categories, but Barça Academy Residency Arizona is the only one to have done so in three straight seasons.
The knockout-format tournament will decide the national champion in each of the four age groups. The U17 and U19 teams also secured their play-off spots after winning their respective divisions. The work being carried out at Barça Academy Residency Arizona continues to bear fruit, with the academy’s teams proving they can compete with any side in youth football across the United States.
