The 25/26 season is almost over. Barça are set to play at the Mestalla stadium this weekend in the final game of a season that saw both Spanish Super Cup and LaLiga title wins. With the World Cup now just around the corner, Hansi Flick has given his thoughts ahead of the match, with full focus on getting a victory.
"We want to win the last game"
After an outstanding LaLiga season, the Barça coach commented that the best way to end it is with the final three points on offer, stating “We want to win our final game. Ending the season with a victory is always a good sign”.
Flick also wanted to weigh up the season, as he went on to say that “We are on the right path. These two seasons have been successful, with five trophies in total, but we want more next season. We are committed 100% and everyone knows the dream is to win the Champions League, that's our aim”. All the same, he admitted that “it's been a tough season, but I think the next one will be even harder, so we have to be ready”.
When it comes to pre-season for the 26/27 season, Flick stated that “I want to see new faces too. I was very happy with the quality from La Masia when I arrived in 2024”.
On the women's team and Fermín
On the Women's Champions League final in Oslo on Saturday featuring Barça and OL Lyonnes, the coach said “I wish them all the best. They have played fantastically all season”.
He also had a few words of support and praise for Fermín, now an injury means he won't be going to the World Cup. “Fermín is hurting. He's had a fantastic season and really helped us win LaLiga. Playing in the World Cup is a dream for every player, but that's life in the end. We are with him and he'll come back even stronger”, he concluded.
