Today 29 April 2026 marks 75 years since the first competitive appearance by Ladislau Kubala for Barça. On 29 April 1951, the legendary Hungarian forward made his debut in the blaugrana jersey in the Copa last 16 first leg that season played at the Nervión stadium, when Sevilla played FC Barcelona. Managed by the great Laszi, the side coached by Ferdinand Daucik put on a great performance to win 1-2, with Barça eventually going on to win the trophy and start the glorious period of the Five Cups.

One of the most notable players in FC Barcelona history, Kubala defined an era at the Club from 1951 to 1961, playing 357 games and scoring 282 goals. He became the most famous person in Catalonia during the fifties, achieving such iconic status that hasn't truly been matched ever since.
