Hours before Barça Femení’s clash in Munich in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Bayern, there was intense institutional activity, also marked by the warmth of the travelling supporters. The players received a warm welcome from the Barça fans in the Bavarian capital.

In the morning, several members of the Penya Blaugrana Bayerischer, founded in 2013 and based in Munich, visited the team hotel. They were received by Àngel Riudalbàs, board member responsible for women’s football, along with members of the Women’s Football Commission and with the presence of Xavi Puig, a member of the elected board. The meeting helped strengthen ties with the international fanbase and underlined the club’s ability to reach every corner of the world, also through its women’s team.

Later, when the Barça delegation headed to the Allianz Arena, the match venue, the usual institutional exchange took place in the directors’ box. Riudalbàs met Bianca Rech, Bayern’s director of women’s football, as well as Froso Ppekri, UEFA’s match delegate, in a meeting that reinforced relations between clubs and institutions at a top-level European fixture.
