Eric García is a role model for all boys and girls who play football, and the players from the Fundació Barça Genuine team are great admirers of the Catalan.

Surprise visit

So when Eric made a surprise appearance at Thursday’s training session, every member of the squad wanted to hug him and show how much his presence meant to them. A real morale boost for the whole group!

The player himself loved the moment, smiling throughout. He joined the team circle, took part in rondos with the players, and spent a few minutes chatting with the squad before posing for a group photo to mark his new role as ambassador of Fundació Barça Genuine. It was an unforgettable experience for everyone, for the Genuine team and for Eric too.

Sincere gratitude

Pol, Marc and Manel spoke during the team circle to thank him for his willingness to be involved, telling him that he has been “a role model for all of us” and that it was a source of pride to welcome him into what they described as “the big family that is the Genuine project.” They also wished the first team “lots of luck and trophies” in the final stretch of the season.

Eric responded in kind. “They’ve shown me how grateful they are. I know they’ve been doing very well, and I’ve encouraged them to keep working hard to achieve whatever goals they set for themselves,” he explained. “It’s been a pleasure to contribute in some small way, from our side, to make them a little happier and to play our part in a project that truly gives meaning to More than a Club.”

Genuine ambassadors

Eric takes over from Pedri as Genuine ambassador. Before them, the role had been held by Ronald Arajo, Sergi Roberto and Gerard Piqué, as well as Cata Coll, Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmatí and Mapi León from Barça Femeni. Genuine director Sergi Panadero was also present at the event, supporting the team on this special day.
