Another one. Carlos Ortega’s side continues to be synonymous with victory, proving it once again away at Recoletas Atlético Valladolid, the same opponents Barça defeated in the Copa de España final just a week ago. After a sluggish start, the match gradually turned blaugrana, culminating in a dominant second half and another convincing win.
Uncomfortable first half
Barça took to the court looking to control the game, but the hosts were solid in both defence and attack. Only N’Guessan looked fully at ease early on, while Hallgrimsson’s strong form kept the visitors afloat. Gradually, the Catalans grew into the contest, forcing turnovers and finding greater rhythm.
In the 23rd minute, with Barça leading 11–13, Carlsbogard was sent off following a controversial facial contact. Ortega’s team responded superbly, tightening defensively and capitalising in attack, with Dani Fernández shining and Ludovic Fàbregas adding stability to reach half-time ahead at 17–21.
Power and control after the break
The second half told a very different story. Barça quickly took command, winning back possession and opening up a clear lead. Despite strong home support, the visitors’ quality prevailed, with Nielsen producing five outstanding saves inside the opening ten minutes.
Inspired by a superb Makuc, the blaugrana gave Valladolid little chance, securing a commanding 28–39 victory. Another win that confirms FC Barcelona as the undisputed leaders of the Liga Asobal.
