The fans in the Estadi Johan Cruyff witnessed Barça Women’s 4-1 victory over Sevilla and the team’s 700th victory in the top two divisions of Spanish Football. Before the game Pere Romeu’s side also showed off the recently claimed Spanish Super Cup trophy.

Coach Romeu made changes for the visit of Sevilla, giving younger players a chance with Serrajordi, Kika and Sydney all starting. With the visitors defending deep, the blaugranes had to be patient in the first half. In the 24th minute, however, Barça were ahead with a slice of luck a Kika’s speculative effort looped over Sevilla keeper Sullastres and into the back of the net.

Sevilla almost levelled things up when an effort came back off the crossbar but just after the half hour mark Barça were 2-0 up. Graham Hansen beat the defender down the wing and the cross allowed Sydney to pick up a loose ball to finish and double Barça’s advantage.

In the second half Salma Paralluelo found space in the box to beat Sullastres on 63 minutes to make it 3-0 for the blaugranes and end any hopes Sevilla had of getting anything out of the game.

Kika added a fourth on 73 minutes before Alba Cerrato notched up a consolation goal for Sevilla with just five minutes remaining.

Barça are next in action in the Copa de la Reina against Real Madrid on Thursday away from home.
