A great win for Barça in Les Comes as they came back from 2-0 down to defeat Igualada Rigat HC in the third round of fixtures in Group A in the WSE Champions League. Ricard Ares' team pick up three vital points thanks to gaols from Sergi Llorca, Xavi Barroso and Ignacio Alabart. The blaugranes now have seven points from a possible nine in European competition ahead of the break for the Christmas holidays.
Igualada start well
After a fairly even start to the game, the home side took the lead when Marc Carol deflected shot past keeper Sergi Fernández in the fourth minute. Barça had chances to come level with Xavi Barroso bringing a save from Igualada keeper Arnau Martínez. Barroso also missed a penalty before the home side did find the net on 20 minutes from the spot through Roger Bars.
The blaugranes pulled one back before the break, a vital psychological boost when when Sergi Llorca fired home from distance. The blaugranes were a man down in the opening minutes of the second half but when they were back to full strength they had the chance to level things up from the spot. However, another penalty save from Arnau Martínez allowed Igualada to retain their advantage.
Barça fightback
Barça were not to be denied. Barroso made up for his penalty miss with a long range effort to make it 2-2 on 41 minutes. Alabart completed the comeback just a minute later. In the final minutes keeper Sergi Fernández had to be at his best to keep Igualada at bay as Cañadillas hit the post for the home side. Three valuable points for the roller hockey side in Europe and Ricard Ares' team are now back in action on Sunday 14 December at the Palau against Cerdanyola, their final game of 2025.
