Barça Atlètic and Girona B played out a goalless draw in the Estadi Montilivi in their group 3 clash in the Segunda Federación. The game had chances for both sides but neither was able to take them as they had to settle for a point which means Barça are knocked off top spot in the group.

Frantic start

The game began in frantic fashion with both teams trying to establish dominance. There was an opportunity early on for Toni Fernández for Barça with Arango and then Sarasa having chances to open the scoring for the home side.

Before the break it seemed that Girona were the more likely to go ahead with ex-blaugrana Nil Calderó threatening down the right. Nevertheless, when the half time whistle came, it was still goalless between the two Catalan teams.

Second half

Ureña could well have scored from chances that came his way in quick succession in the second half, denied by keeper Sergi Puig in the first and the crossbar in the second. Coach Juliano Belletti rang the chances with Guillem Victor coming on the make his debut. Blaugrana keeper Bernad made a good save from Raul Martínez with the final chance of the game falling to Shane Kluivert for the visitors.

A points keeps Barça in contention at the top of the table with the next fixture a home game against Torrent next Sunday, kick off 6pm CET.
