The Barcelona derby once again underlined Barça’s superiority. From the first whistle, Pere Romeu’s side controlled proceedings with tempo and attacking quality, sealing a deserved win through goals from Alexia and Pajor.

Before kick-off, the crowd saluted Barça’s Ballon d’Or stars: Pajor lifted the Gerd Müller Trophy as top scorer, Vicky showed off the Kopa, and Aitana celebrated a third consecutive Ballon d’Or, a moment of pride for the blaugrana faithful.

Alexia sets the pace

Barça set the tone early, with Graham and Pina lively on the flanks and combining well with Alexia and Patri. After several near misses, the breakthrough came on 21 minutes: Aitana slipped Graham in down the right, her cut-back perfectly met by captain Alexia to fire home.

Espanyol’s evening worsened just before half-time when Amaia was stretchered off with a knee injury.

Pajor sentences

Barça pressed on after the restart and doubled their lead on 55 minutes. Pina drove forward, linked with Alexia and teed up Pajor, who finished clinically. With the game under control, Romeu introduced fresh legs in Vicky, Ona, Salma and Sydney, the latter twice hitting the woodwork alongside Aitana.

Espanyol offered little threat and Barça cruised to the finish, their dominance never in doubt as they wrapped up another commanding derby victory.
