Without a doubt, Barça’s future is in good hands. The quality of the club's young players is undeniable and is the talk of the footballing world. There's factual evidence too. France Football magazine has revealed the list of young players in the running for the Kopa Trophy, and it includes Vicky López, Pau Cubarsí, and Lamine Yamal.

Two big names

FC Barcelona holds the record for nominees in this award, which was established in 2018, and for which the club had three nominations in 2023 thanks to the presence of Pedri, Gavi, and Balde. In 2025 there are two, but what a duo: Pau Cubarsí and Lamine Yamal.

Barça is also the club with the most nominees of all time, tied with PSG.

The full list of the ten male candidates for the 2025 Kopa Trophy is as follows: Pau Cubarsí, Lamine Yamal, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Rodrigo Mora, João Neves, Kenan Yildiz, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Désiré Doué, Estêvão, and Dean Huijsen.

Who next?

FC Barcelona also has the most winners of this prestigious award—three in total: Lamine Yamal (2024), Gavi (2022), and Pedri (2021). The numbers speak for themselves. Since the Kopa Trophy’s creation in 2018, Barça has led the way with three wins in six editions. PSG, Juventus, and Real Madrid have each won it once. Will the young Barça talents extend this lead in 2025?

Cata Coll too

The 2025 edition will also see the first ever women’s Yachine Trophy awarded. And at the ceremony on 22 September at the Théâtre du Châtelet, another Barça name will feature among the nominees: Cata Coll. The Barça goalkeeper is up against Ann-Katrin Berger, Hannah Hampton, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Daphne van Domselaar for the honour of best goalkeeper of the year. And the Mallorcan has more than earned her place. Her spectacular saves have been crucial for both FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team. All this at just 24 years of age.
