All about FC Barcelona v AC Milan on the 2024 US Tour

The Serie A side are the opposition in Baltimore on August 6 in what will be the last of the games in the United States

FC Barcelona end their summer 2024 tour of the United States with a game against one of Italy's strongest sides, AC Milan. That's on Tuesday 6 August at a time to be decided, following on from the games against Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The venue

The Catalan and Italian sides go head to head at the M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, the biggest city in Maryland. The 71,008 capacity venue was opened in 1998. As well as American football, it has often hosted soccer friendlies involving European clubs, as well as games at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2013 and 2015.

Previous friendlies against Milan

Barça and Milan have met in 11 friendlies over the years, the first two at the old Les Corts ground way back in 1933, with a win for each side. Milan have been the guests at three editions of the Joan Gamper Trophy, with Barça winning in 1986 and 2004 (3-1 and 2-1) and a draw in 2010 (1-1).

Barça played two friendlies at San Siro in 1977 and 1987, losing both by a single goal (2-1 and 1-0). Milan also won 3-0 when they met at the Carlos Tartiere, Oviedo, in 1993.

And they have met three times in the US, with two blaugrana wins and one for the Milanese. Last summer, Ansu Fati scored the only goal in a 1-0 win. Earlier, in 2018 the Catalans lost by the same score in Santa Clara but in 2003 they were again victorious, this time 2-0, in Washington.

Star attractions

Rafael Leão and Oliver Giroud in attack and Theo Hernández at the back are among the biggest names in a Milan squad that, to a large extent thanks to their services, has won its way back into the European elite after a series of disappointing campaigns.
