FC Barcelona and CUPRA renew global partnership until 2029

CUPRA to continue as the club's Official Automotive and Mobility Partner and Official Car for five more years in an even more international agreement that has been expanded to all of the club's other pro sports teams

This Wednesday, FC Barcelona and CUPRA renewed their global alliance to continue inspiring the world. The vehicle manufacturer will continue to be the club's Official Automotive and Mobility Partner and Official Car for the next five seasons through to 2029, and is expanding its connection to all of the club's other professional sports.

The CUPRA headquarters in Martorell hosted the event at which the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta and the CEO of CUPRA, Wayne Griffiths, announced the renewal of the agreement. The meeting was also attended by the vice-president responsible for the marketing area Juli Guiu, as well as players from the club's different pro teams: Robert Lewandowski (men's football), Jana Fernández (women's football), James Nnaji (basketball), Miquel Feixas (futsal), Domen Makuc (handball) and Matías Pascual (roller hockey).

CUPRA's agreement with FC Barcelona began in 2019 and is based on the values shared by both brands and a joint vision of the future. Barça's commitment to young talent in all of its pro teams connects with the rebellious essence of CUPRA, created for a new generation of drivers prepared for electric mobility.

As Laporta said, "we are very happy to extend our agreement with CUPRA until 2029 and expand it to all professional sports at FC Barcelona. In recent years, Barça and CUPRA have formed an extraordinary team that is now being strengthened to face the future with a winning spirit. The world of sports and cars share the challenge of always chasing the horizon in search of success. From this conviction, we will work together in the coming years, with a young, leading, global and committed brand as CUPRA.”

Griffiths added that "at CUPRA we share the values of FC Barcelona, the largest club in the world. Both brands face their challenges with passion, we have the ambition to win and a global vocation to inspire the world from Barcelona. Our common commitment to the future and new generations has created a unique connection that we are very pleased to prolong. The renewal of our global partnership means we can continue challenging the status quo on the pitch and on the road, and reinforce our ambition to make CUPRA a truly global Spanish brand.”

More than a sponsorship

This new global partnership involves the renewal of CUPRA's role as Official Automotive and Mobility Partner and the Official Car of FC Barcelona. The brand also remains a Global Partner, and will be present as one of the official sponsors in Espai Barça.

The agreement expands the scope of sponsorship to the club's professional sports. In addition to maintaining its relationship with the senior men's and women's football teams, CUPRA will also become the official sponsor of the FC Barcelona basketball, futsal, handball and roller hockey teams until June 2029.

To reinforce the brand's international impact, the CUPRA logo will be present on the right sleeve of the men's and women's football shirts in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 editions of the Summer Tour, as well as in international friendlies for the next three seasons.

With the aim of supporting CUPRA's global strategy and strengthening its commitment to talent, the company will be the main partner of one of the international Barça Academies. This association will involve the presence of CUPRA in the name and branding of the facilities.

Inspiring the world from Barcelona

Those attending Wednesday's event were welcomed by the CUPRA DarkRebel, the showcar that the brand presented at the IAA 2023 in Munich, along with the CUPRA Raval and the CUPRA Tavascan. These electrified models represent CUPRA's vision and future plans, the heroes for a new era.

The renewal of the global alliance comes after 2023 ended with record figures for CUPRA, with 230,700 vehicles delivered, 50.9% more than the previous year, taking the number of cars delivered since the brand was launched in 2018 to over 500,000. CUPRA has also consolidated its position as one of the fastest growing auto-mobile brands in Europe thanks to the solid results obtained in key markets, thus promoting CUPRA's globalisation.
