The tour of the western United States by FC Barcelona is not just about activities on the pitch. After Friday's event with the Penya Blaugrana Los Angeles, on Sunday another even was held with the Board of Directors welcoming at their hotel the Los Angeles FC Barcelona Soccer Foundation and the Penya Barcelonista San Francisco.
Present at the event on behalf of FC Barcelona were Elena Fort, vice-president of the Institutional Area, Antonio Escudero, vice-president of the Social Area; Josep Ignasi Macià, director responsible for the Social Area; Joan Solé, director responsible for handball, and Aureli Mas, director responsible for futsal.
The first part of the event was dedicated to the Supporters' Club based in Los Angeles, represented by a group of around 15 members led by president Paul Walker who thanked the Board Members for the chance to have some personal direct contact with the Club. For their part, representing the Board, Josep Ignasi Macià remembered an event with the same Supporters' Club in 2009, the year that gave rise to six trophies, and explained his wish "this new meeting is also a sign and brings us the luck we had that year." Antonio Escudero also spoke, highlighting "the merit it has to be a Barça fan from a distance," going on to thank the work of the Supporters' Club members as ambassadors for Barça.
Next, it was the turn of the Penya Barcelonista de San Francisco, who on Saturday were not able to put on the planned reception due to the cancellation of the game between FC Barcelona and Juventus at the Levi's Stadium because of the stomach virus affecting a large part of the Barça squad. In their case, given the difficulties of making the trip to Los Angeles, they were represented by Robert Manson, a member who lives in LA and took the opportunity to meet the Board of Directors of behalf of his fellow penyistes.
