Spot in the Liga final series sewn up. Today's 75-87 win saw Barça eliminate Unicaja in Malaga, winning the semifinals series 3-1. Mirotic and Satoransky, who top scored with 14 and 12 points respectively, and Vesely, with a PIR of 18, all played key roles in the triumph.
Next up the Liga title best of 5 series clash against Real Madrid, but with home advantage, the first and second games being played at the Palau Blaugrana on June 16 and 18.
Barça in control
The Catalans assumed control almost from the off, with effective shooting for both two and three points opening up a decent lead with 10 minutes gone (13-23.
Satoransky stepped up to score 10 points in the first half, but the home side didn't simply roll over. Carter scored 7 points and made 2 assists in the second quarter, as the Andalusians came to within five points (37-42, min 19). However, Abrines scored a three-pointer to take the visitors in eight points up at the break (37-45, min 20).
Crushing third quarter
Perry scored five unanswered points after the restart (42-47, min 22), but Barça made the most of a period of Unicaja uncertainty to extend their lead to more than 10 points (46-57, min 26).
The decent lead plus a robust defence stymied Unicaja's reaction, with Barça pulling away to virtually guarantee victory - the lead was +23 by this point (50-73, min 29).
52-73 at the start of the final quarter, but that proved enough for the visitors, who slowed down both the game and the scoring rate, and despite the Andalusian side clawing back some of the lead, the Catalans won 75-87 to book their place in the final series. The Liga title is up for grabs and Barça will give their all to win it.
