Special game for Iniesta in Tokyo

Special game for Iniesta in Tokyo

Former FC Barcelona star has announced that the game on June 6 will be his last for Vissel Kobe in Japan

Andrés Iniesta's football story will continue, but not in Japan. This Thursday, the veteran midfielder announced that he is leaving Vissel Kobe to embark on a new challenge next season. That means that the friendly against FC Barcelona on June 6 will be his last for the team.

Last dance in Japan

After a long and glittering career at Barça and five extraordinary years with Vissel Kobe, Iniesta plans to tread new ground, meaning that the end-of-season friendly is set to be a more special occasion than ever, bringing together the only two teams that he has represented at senior level.

In his time in Japan, Iniesta has scored 21 goals and given 22 assists, and helped his team to win the Emperor's Cup (2019) and Japanese Super Cup (2020).

Many partings

The game will also be a very special one for Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, who have both announced that they are leaving Barça at the end of the season. So this will also be our last chance to see those two players in action, at least in the blaugrana jersey.

Alba and Busquets will be bidding their farewells to the home fans against Mallorca this Sunday. There are still two games to follow, one in the league and the friendly in Japan, but this weekend's game will be their last at Spotify Camp Nou.
