FC Barcelona has again shown commitment to eliminating any form of violence against women, adhering to the manifesto for sport promoted by the Catalan Sports Council for the elimination of violence against women that aims to tackle this serious social issue.
Prior to the game against Alavés, Barça Atletic Women players Berta Doltra and Martina Fernández, joined Madou Murcia and Juan Pablo Galbarro from the men's Under 16B side at reading the text that “denounces all forms of violence against women”.
The Club wanted to join in with this action for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November. A commitment that will be on display on that same day at the Palau Blaugrana, when the manifesto will be read again prior to the Barça basketball team's EuroLeague match against Kazu Baskonia.
As such, FC Barcelona again makes their position clear when it comes to eliminating violence against women. A commitment that the Club also included in the Statutes on 23 October 2021 with a section in article 4 that acknowledges the basic and essential human rights, contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The text sets out that the Catalan club “will safeguard equal rights and people's dignity” and to fulfil these objectives, the Club “will foster the democratic values of equality and no discrimination” and “will strive to eradicate all chauvinistic, homophobic, and racist attitudes both in society and in sport”.
