FC Barcelona opens eighth Barça Store at Westfield La Maquinista shopping mall

Club owns 100% of the store which opens on Thursday 6 October at event attended by directors Aureli Mas and Miquel Camps and first team footballer Jules Kounde

FC Barcelona has opened its eighth store managed 100% by the club as yet further progress in its plan to expand the retail business through the Barça Licensing & Merchandising (BLM) company created in June 2018. The latest Barça Store opens its doors on Thursday 6 October in one of the busiest prime areas of the Westfield La Maquinista shopping centre. Club directors Aureli Mas and Miquel Camps, as well as Jules Kounde from the men's football team, are attending the event from 6.30pm to 7.15pm.

The Barça Store in Westfield La Maquinista has a total of 297 m2 spread over a single floor, and offers a 100% Barça experience in a design that is consistent with that of similar stores such as the ones in Las Ramblas and Airport Terminal 1. With one of the most central locations in the popular shopping mall in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona, this is a store primarily aimed at local shoppers, unlike other Barça Stores that tend to be located in more touristy areas.

This new outlet is the eighth official store managed 100% by the club, adding to those at Camp Nou, Canaletes, Passeig de Gràcia, La Roca Village, Sagrada Família, and Barcelona Airport T1 and T2.

100% Barça products

The new store is based on the same design concept as all of the establishments that are part of the BLM project, combining new technologies and characteristic elements of the club's tradition, the idea being to offer a unique experience for customers who visit the store. For instance, LED screens will project images of the Spotify Camp Nou including dynamic surround sound that creates a similar atmosphere and emotions as those felt in the stadium itself.

Shoppers at the new Barça Store at Westfield La Maquinista will find from today all the official kits for the new 2022/23 season, as well as training gear and the other 100% Barça collections that are available exclusively at the points of sale managed directly by the club. The casual streetwear range includes the Organic Cotton Collection capsule, for women and children made with 100% recycled organic cotton, the Tape collection inspired by the British sport aesthetic of the 1990s, the Color Block, designed from Brooklyn street art and combined with a retro touch, and the Gallina de Piel collection. The first 1,000 customers to visit the store will also receive an exclusive Barça tote bag.

Consolidated commitment to controlling retail

In July 2018, FC Barcelona regained control of its merchandising rights, which until then had been owned by FCB–Merchandising, a company 100% owned by Nike. The newly created BLM company ensures the club holds direct control of the brand as part of its plans for global expansion.

This strategy includes the creation of a network of official points of sale managed 100% by FC Barcelona, of which the Canaletes store is the flagship establishment and the second largest in terms of surface area, with only the store at Spotify Camp Nou being larger.
