Garatge Plana Girona 0-4 Barça: Three wins in a row

Barça win their third OK Liga game based on a powerful attack and a resolute defence

Smooth progress. Edu Castro's team won their third game in a row at a perennially difficult away game to Garaje Plana Girona (0-4). Barça's goals were scored by João Rodrigues (2), Pau Bargalló and Helder Nunes, but a combination of defensive solidity and free hit efficacy helped keep up the winning record so far this season in the OK Liga.

Early goal scored

Barça begin by attacking with energy, with top scorer this season Pau Bargalló soon breaking the deadlock with a super free hit. This woke up Garatge Plana Girona, but despite stepping up the intensity, the away defence and Sergio Fernández dealt with everything that was thrown at them to quell the charge. Helder Nunes, Ignacio Alabart and João Rodrigues combined to make it 0-2 by the end of a first half that could have seen a much larger lead.

Lead extended

Barça remained in charge in the second half, with Girona keeper thwarting Pau Bargalló time after time, but it was João Rodrigues who showed up again to extend the lead to 0-3. A third win was never in doubt and Helder Nunes confirmed the 0-4 win from the penalty spot. Sergio Fernández kept his third clean sheet in a row, helped in no small part by the defensive solidity in front of him and Girona's difficulties in attack. 0-4 the final score and the third OK Liga win in a row.

Next up, Arenys visit the Palau Blaugrana for a game at 12.00pm CEST on Saturday 24 September.
