MIAMI, Florida — With FC Barcelona in town for the first leg of the team's 2022 US tour, the Club took part in a welcome dinner on Sunday night along with a bevy of authorities and distinguished citizens from the Miami metropolitan area. Club president Joan Laporta and Barça's Board of Directors were on hand for the event, which was held at the Pérez Art Museum.
Also in attendance were several current players, including Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué, Ansu Fati, and Pedri, as well as former blaugranes Thierry Henry and Juliano Belletti, the two legends who have joined the Club's expedition for this summer's tour.
Among the more than one hundred and fifty guests was Daniella Levine Cava, the Mayor of Miami-Dade County, who welcomed Barça on behalf of the City. Also present were former Club players Hristo Stoichkov and Kun Agüero, who are Miami residents.
President Laporta, in his speech to the guests, explained how this summer's tour was a great opportunity to bring the Club closer to its fans in the United States and to transmit the values and characteristics that make Barça such a unique institution, such as its emblematic style of play — which has been recognized throughout the world — and its unwavering commitment to social endeavors.
