One of the giant screens in the iconic One Times Square was lit up today with the image of the new partnership between the football club and the audio streaming platform
The kick-off of the agreement between FC Barcelona and Spotify has truly taken to the global stage by being heralded in the famous Times Square of New York. The façade of the iconic One Times Square building was lit up with a giant screen commemorating the start of the partnership. Playing on the traditional "New Music Friday" playlist, which Spotify publishes each Friday, the words that appeared on the screen were "Nou Music Friday", a nod to the name of Barça’s stadium, under which a message read ‘Spotify x FC Barcelona’, together with the club crest and the Swedish firm’s logo.
The rotating image was displayed this July 1 on the screen at a height of some 110 meters (360 feet) for 24 hours (from 6.00am Friday to 6.00am on Saturday CEST).
Spotify Camp Nou
Through this agreement, Spotify has become the first ever Title Partner of the Barça stadium, which from July 1 is called Spotify Camp Nou.
Back in Barcelona, a new mural was unveiled on the grandstand façade featuring pictures of men’s and women’s players Pedri, María León, Ansu Fati, Alexia Putellas, Aubameyang and Aitana Bonmatí, with the Spotify Camp Nou in the middle.
FC Barcelona and Spotify will be using this alliance to unite two worlds that arouse so much passion among their fans, namely sport and music, in order to create new entertainment experiences that will revolutionize fan engagement and offer a single platform with which to connect players and artists from all over the world.
As well as becoming Title Partner of the stadium, Spotify will also be FC Barcelona’s Main Partner and Official Audio Streaming Partner. The company’s name will be appearing on the front of the men’s and women’s soccer jerseys in 2022/23 and for four years, and also on the same team’s training kit for the next three years.
To celebrate the beginning of the partnership fans can listen to a new episode of Spotify’s For the Record podcast, featuring interviews with FC Barcelona President, Joan Laporta and Spotify’s Chief Freemium Business Officer, Alex Norström.
