Ribera Navarra 2-8 Barça: Almost there!

The futsal team won away to Ribera Navarra on Tuesday, with goals by Ferrao (3), Pito, Lozano (2), Puigvert and Povill taking Jesús Velasco's team even closer to confirming first place in the regular season. Only one more point is needed from the final two games or for Cartagena to lose their match day 28 game.

Barça were missing Marcenio, Esquerdinha and André Coelho through injury, but got the job done, dominating practically throughout the game, despite their rival being one of this season's surprises with play-off ambitions of their own.

Ferrao opened the scoring on 8 minutes, assisted by Lozano, before Pito sat both a defender and the keeper down to make it 0-2 after 17 minutes, with no further goals coming before half time.

The second half began in brilliant fashion, Povill and Lozano combining for Marcao to make it 0-3 (min 21). Ribera Navarra tried to close the gap on various occasions but Barça were proving more effective, evidenced by two more goals for Ferrao sandwiched around a first goal for young Marc Puigvert, who debuted recently against Levante.

Terry scored his 20th goal of the season in his quest to be top scorer (1-6, min 34), but Lozano wasn't going to be outdone and hit a hard cross-shot to score his 21st goal of the season.

Povill ran the length of the pitch to make it 1-8 before Joao Miguel granted a late consolation, final score 2-8. This result means Barça is virtually regular season champion, but they can confirm first place at home against Valdepeñas on Saturday, which will also feature Palau Blaugrana 50th anniversary celebrations.
