After the big win against Red Star midweek, Barça held onto top spot in the ACB with a fine display against Gran Canaria. It’s a game they already had well under control in the first half, with Àlex Abrines taking the MVP award for his 20 points.

Prior to the game, former Barça man, Ukrainian Artem Pustovy, was presented with a shirt with the words “Stop War” upon it, a gesture that was received with heart applause from the Palau.

Roland Smits was the man early on, producing some superlative basketball, while Nikola Mirotic joined the party with three consecutive threes to send the Catalans sailing ahead (28-16).

Gran Canaria could find nothing, with Barça also solid as a rock ion defence, and the half time score reflected the staggeringly one-sided nature of the proceedings (61-28).

The third period was Barça showboating. The highlight was watching Jokubaitis and Brandon Davies producing some awesome plays together, including a spectacular alley-hoop as the difference continued to be almost embarrassingly blaugrana (80-55).

The final period has little history to it. Barça had no need to waste any further energy and the islanders made use of the time to make the score a little more, from their point of view, respectable (98-80).
