Trailer released for 'Matchday-Queens of The Pitch', the documentary series about the Barça Women's treble year
The trailer is out for the new documentary series about the Barça women's football team's treble winning season, Matchday-Queens of the Pitch, premiering on Barça TV+ from February 25. It offers an early glimpse at a film about the team that in the 2020/21 season won their first ever Champions League title, the league and the Copa de la Reina. Beyond their results, this was a team that won worldwide admiration and acclaim for their style of play, values and their contribution to women’s sport via the awakening of interest and passion amongst the fans.
The Matchday-Queens of the Pitch Their cameras captured exclusive footage of the team, the players, the coaching staff and of the day to day life of training, travelling and camaraderie of a group of people who consider themselves family. The images capture the collective strength and charisma of the players, the key pillars in their sporting success. The six episodes of the series are each half an hour long and can be seen worldwide and exclusively on the club's Premium streaming platform, Barça TV+, in Catalan, Spanish and English.
The first two episodes will both go out on premiere day, February 25, the first for free and the second on subscription. The schedule for the release of further episodes, also on a subscriber basis, is as follows:
- Friday 25 February: premiere, episodes 1 & 2
- Monday 28 de febrer: episode 3
- Monday 7 March: episode 4
- Monday 14 March: episode 5
- Monday 21 March: episode 6
Matchday-Queens of the Pitch has been produced by Barça Studios, the hub that brings together the creation, production and commercialisation of FC Barcelona audio-visual content. To celebrate the premiere of the documentary on 25 February Barça will hold an event at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona in which various representatives from the Club will take part, one of the episodes of the documentary will also be shown.
