Four candidates for women's The Best

Aitana, Graham, Hermoso and Alexia shortlisted. Leo Messi, at Barça until the summer of this year, up for men's award, and Lluis Cortés nominated as top women's coach

FC Barcelona are well represented in the shortlist for FIFA's The Best award, above all in the women's category. Four current members of the Barça Women's team are nominated; Aitana Bonmatí, Caroline Graham-Hansen, Jennifer Hermoso and Alexia Putellas, whilst Leo Messi, a blaugrana until June, is amongst the nominees in the men's category. Lluis Cortés, the coach of Barça Women last season, is also on the shortlist in the category of Best Coach. 

Barça Women heavily represented 

The tremendous campaign for the Barça women's team did not go unnoticed and four of the 13 candidates for the best player in the women's category belong to Barça Women.  Aitana Bonmatí, Caroline Graham-Hansen, Jennifer Hermoso and Alexia Putellas will compete against the nine other nominees for the award 'The Best', those being Blackstenius, Bronce, Eriksson, Harder, Ji Soyun, Kerr, Miedema, Sinclair and White. 

Lluis Cortés is up against four other candidates in the women's football coaching category. 

Leo Messi, in search of his second win

The Argentine, a blaugrana up until June 2021, won the award in 2019 and now he is in the running for a second win. Messi is up against the other 10 candidates in the race to be 'The Best': Benzema, De Bruyne, Cristiano Ronaldo, Haaland, Jorginho, Kanté, Lewandowski, Mbappé, Neymar and Salah.
