Albacete 2-0 Barça B: No luck

Two errors early in each half mean the reserves were unable to continue their unbeaten run at the Carlos Belmonte

A cruel defeat at one of the hardest places to visit in the competition saw Barça B play dearly for errors early in both halves and end up going down 2-0 in Albacete. The home side took their chances and put an end to the reserves’ six-game unbeaten run.

It was a game in which Barça B dominated possession, Albacete defended hard and looked for chances on the counter. And that’s how the first goal came, Manu Fuster taking good advantage of an Alonso Soso to leave Arnau Tenas with nothing to do.

A goal down after 9 minutes, Sergi Barjuan’s charges were quick to respond. Àngel Rodado and Ferran Jutglà had the best of the chances as they lunged forth in search of an equaliser.

There was further bad news when Gerard Fernández 'Peque', back from injury, had to withdraw in the first half clutching his leg.

Straight from the restart, Manu Fuster capitalised on a defensive error to extend the home side’s lead.

The script was the same as the first half, with Barça B doing everything to get what were now two required goals to salvage a point. Substitute Peque Polo let a fabuloys chance go begging, Rodado came close with a free kick… There was no shortage in the supply of chances, but cashing them in for goals proved much harder.

The defeat means Barça B are still fifth and in the playoff zone, with the next game next Saturday at 5.00pm CET against San Fernando at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
