Leo Messi equalled Pelé's record of 643 goals with one club thanks to his effort against Valencia in the 2-2 draw. In 17 seasons and 748 he has matched the total scored by the Brazilian legend during his time with Santos in his native country. 

Pelé congratulated Messi in an Instagram post himself, "Congratulations on the record, I admire you a lot," said the Brazilian in the post. A more in depth dedication can be read right here.
