Barça 2-2 Fútbol Emotion Zaragoza: Penalty controversy

Catalans on verge of first win of the season before a polemic spot kick means it ends all square

Barça are still looking for their first league victory after being held to 2-2 by Zaragoza at the Palau on Saturday. They had it all in their favour but a controversial penalty, and a red card for Sergio Lozano, meant the visitors escaped with a point. Ferrao scored both goals for Barça, while Eloy Rojas did likewise for the Aragonese in tight encounter where luck just wasn’t on the side of the Catalans.

The game was just three minutes old when both sides had already scored, but despite Barça playing better and better as the game progressed, there would be no further score until the 24th.

But Zaragoza were the more dangerous team towards the end, and were rewarded in polemic fashion when an incident involving Lozano and Juanqui was adjudged to be a Zaragoza penalty, when the Barça players clearly felt the decision should have gone the other way.

Barça went for a rush goalie in the final minutes, and a third goal was looking very likely indeed had time not run out. And so it ended all square. A frustrating afternoon at the Palau.
