Baskonia 71-72 Barça: Superb win at the Buesa Arena

An incredible last quarter saw Barça take victory in what was a fantastic advert for the Euroleague

A very important victory for FC Barcelona against Baskonia (71-72), with a result that leaves Barça at the top of the Euroleague standings. Sarunas Jasikevicius' side defeated the Basques in a match that was exciting right up until the end.

Despite dominating throughout, the lack of success at the basket by the Catalans allowed Baskonia to always be in with a chance. Eventually, however, the third clash between the two teams after Barça's victory in the Super Cup and the Basques' victory in the ACB League, ended up falling the way of the visiting side. Mirotic, with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 27 assists, was the MVP on the day he returned to play in Europe after overcoming the coronavirus.

Balanced

Baskonia and Barça had a balanced start, and exchanged baskets (19-20, min 10), however, Barça were a little superior and were ahead by eight at one point, after a triple by Abrines (31-39, min 19). However, a Baskonia led by Henry and Fall recovered before the break (37- 39, min 20).

So it remained going into the third period, with Barça, always ahead, but never by much because of the constant response of the Basque team (56- 58). A triple by Polonara saw the hosts finally ahead (61-58, min 33), a lead which they stretched with only four minutes left (69-61, 36 minutes).

Kuric's triple (71-70, min 39) was important, with the decisive play being Abrines' recovery that ended with the player getting the winning basket with less than a minute to go (71 -72).
