Barça v Inter: Defeat at the Palau (2-3)

Despite consistent attacking from Barça, the hosts lost to Inter in a crazy game

The match was very competitive from the start, with Aicardo and Ferrao the protagonists in the opening exchanges for the Catalans. Opportunities for Esquerdinha, Ferrao and Ximbinha came and went before the visitors took the lead through Saldise (0-1, min. 13), taking advantage of a rebound.

Barça's insistence without reward

The script was repeated in the second half, with clear chances but no goal-scoring success for Barça. Dyego and Esquerdinha saw their shots saved by Herrero, and just when it looked like the blaugranes would draw level, Drasler took Inter further ahead (0-2, min. 29).

With three minutes to go and Barça playing without a goalkeeper, it was their custodian who brought them back into it as Daniel found the net with a fierce drive (1-2, min. 37). Frustratingly, Barça were unable to draw level and with few seconds to go, Martel made it 1-3. Though Esquerdinha scored with virtually the final kick, it was too little, too late.
