Barça Women begin league with “We play as we are” as slogan

The new campaign highlights the Barça style and uses the club’s identity as a source of inspiration

After several intense weeks of preparation, Barça Women will start their league season on Sunday, October 4th, facing Real Madrid away from home.

To help get off to a good start ahead of a long season, FC Barcelona are launching a new campaign with the slogan ‘We play as we are’, making reference to Barça’s style of play and values, a common denominator at every level of the club, from the youth system to the first teams. Based on a commitment to talent and to educate people through sport, this style and values are  also present in women’s football, to which the club have been committed from the start.

Playing for Barça is a source of pressure that Barça Women also uphold. The campaign wants to highlight this aspect, which can often be overshadowed by day-to-day dynamics. Their fighting spirit is worthy of an institution like that which they represent. Their hard work makes those at the Estadi Johan Cruyff enjoy watching in the same way the the first team have traditionally wowed the Camp Nou, and Lluís Cortés’ team have managed to consolidate the Barça style.

“Play as you are.We celebrate as we are. We fight as we are” is a derivative of the campaign, claiming the club’s identity as a source of inspiration for the present and the future.

The campaign will be visible mainly on digital platforms, with content on social media, the Members App and the various club communications channels.

This project is another step forward for Barça Women, which has had its own campaigns since the 2018/19 season. The initial slogan, "We are footballers," was intended to break with stereotypes, eschewing the archaic association of football with the male sex. The campaign, launched on International Women's Day 2019, featured phrases such as "Football is not for girls, football is for footballers." The following year, the slogan was "It's our time", a campaign that continued to appeal for equality and a vision of improvement and competitiveness in sport.
